Comic Con VS Mini

Here's the mini comic I did for Comic Con 2011.  

I thought rather than have a biz card a mini comic could work as both. 

The Comics is a trifold with six 5"x7"sections. 

My friend Derek Hunter (Lobster Lad, Pirate Club) helped me out with the printing.

I Only printed up 100 of em.

I worked on this after work and it took me about a week.

I switch the back ground color to a red to help my characters standout out.

Also, I rendered them out a little more.

Here's where I was seeing how far I could push it.  I wanted the cover to be really dynamic with all kinds of action. I tilted the characters and Really covered the title up. I still feel like this has all kinds of energy but I needed more of a standard format.

Because the format of the mini comic would be a distant step from a standard comic, I decided that I better make sure the cover was more recognizable as a comic cover.

So I Gave it the flat upper cover panel like the old comics and more of a standard Branding box

This is the thumbnail I stuck with. It's a little less dynamic but more recognizable as a a comic cover.

  All and all it was a fun Challenge and a lot of fun.

VS pencils

Here's all the pencils. I drew the blue wire-frames on my Cintiq, printed those out and then tight them up in pencil.

Batman Beyond

Oldman- Wayne... Who wouldn't think Batz would end up a feisty old man still in the game, beating people over the head with a cain.  He's ancient and weathered but still can KICK SOME A$$. I love it.

McGinnis- very different batman personality. Kind of like Peter Parker always cracking witty jokes.

Ace- Dog super heros...not a fan....however...I think the best carnation of Ace The Bat-Hound is in Batman Beyond.  In fact I really like him. Why? Cause he's just a normal dog that hangs around oldman Wayne. No costume(#1 reason dog super heros suck...costumes.) On a occasion he get in the mix and starts biting people but that's only when the fight is brought to his old Geezer of a master.  

Love this series. It meshes well with the batman Mythos.

Commission Painting

Acrlylic and Oilbased Black On printed Photo. 4ftX3ft Really pressed for time but I got this commission and the commissionee didn't care how long it took me.  Started this around Christmas and put in a little here and there on my lunch hour. Finally it's done.

 Here is the digital rough I first did for him before I dived into the painting.  He came back and said he wanted tentacles with speakers instead of suctions. I liked the arms but gotta comply with the man with the money.

Colored a drawing out of my sketch book.

Out of DC's 7 Soldier Series Frankenstein Blew 'em all out of the water.

It totally stands by it self and I wish it was on going. I'd buy that book.

Boarding 4 Breast Cancer

These designs got cut. They're too masculine. back to the Drawing board.  I thought the concepts where good but the girls need some thing that makes 'em feel all nice with sugar and spice. Not very many gals want to wear a piece-o-meat on em....(besides lady Gaga of corse)

One thing to note when designing Women's Tees...

be aware that your design should be symmetrical. 

Other wise they're boobies will appear lopsided.
